Boxmoor Hall

Boxmoor Hall was built in 1889 from surplus monies from the Box Moor Trust and it was always intended to be used for the community.

The hall has been a venue for many meetings and entertainments over the years and it was once used as the local magistrate's court.

In the early 1970s, it became an arts centre for young people and since the council closed it due to lack of funds in 2004, it had been standing empty gaining dust and cobwebs.

Between February 2004 and August 2007, whilst still growing the academy, Sally Ilsley put her heart and soul into acquiring Boxmoor Hall to bring the building back to the heart of the community.

Now Boxmoor Hall has become the Life & Soul Academy for performing arts, wellbeing and lifestyle and is accessible to the entire community.

In October 2008 the Life & Soul Academy was granted a premises License enabling us to host live performances, plays, films, entertainment and music throughout the week as well as providing our visitors with the facility of a wine & cocktail bar.
