School Sports Partnership Dance Specialist & Trainer
Sally Ilsley is the Dacorum Dance Trainer for all Primary, Junior and Secondary schools as part of her commitment to SSCO- Dacorum School Sports Co-ordinator Partnership. Working to promote dance, well being and high self-esteem for the children at foundation level to Key Stage 4.
As part of the role as Dance Trainer Sally provides Inset Training for the teachers, ensuring they promote quality control across all of the key stages and indeed Dacorum.
Training facilities for Primary and Secondary Link Teachers are always problematic- more often than not training is conducted in inappropriate surroundings. Therefore, the Arts Centre would be an asset to the teaching fraternity and provide an excellent hosting location central for all parties.
Often facilities and teaching areas are a problem particularly as priority is often given to traditional subjects.
However, the trend is changing and schools are identifying the overwhelming benefits of dance and drama.
In many circumstances, students at Key stage 4 have no alternative but to travel out of their chosen school to others who offer dance and/or drama as an option.
We aim to provide superior facilities for the students to train, thus keeping the talent within the Borough and not losing interested ones to neighbouring areas.
- Astley Cooper School has had no option but to hire a local church hall to provide G.C.S.E Dance students with an area to learn practically as they do not have the indoor space to accommodate them. These students would benefit hugely from a purpose-built and equipped studio at the Arts Centre.
Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Groups
As a leading choreographer in the area our team support many amateur dramatic groups and small arts companies.
Rehearsal Space is a key issue for many groups - cost, time limitations and availability are all factors, which affect the success of the group/companies
As experienced industry professionals we understand the value and need of flexibility including the option to use amenities for Sunday rehearsals.
With a variety of different sized studios it makes it an ideal venue for rehearsal space and provides social areas, which support the ethos of the groups.
Many young artistes need to be able to rehearse for their band, school event, exam, auditions etc- we can provide the space for them as well as being on-hand to support, advise and provide useful contacts.
We won't allow talent in our community to go unnoticed or unsupported. It's our duty to give them the foundations to succeed.
Mencap
We are developing a program of classes for Dacorum Mencap. There is a great need for trained professionals in dance, singing and drama to work with members of Mencap.
Our facilities will enable all groups to access and encounter the ambience of a fully equipped studio.
Familiarity in their surroundings and routine is of great importance to anyone but particularly for those with learning, physical or emotional disabilities. With a purpose site for the Arts all members will feel confident and secure in their surroundings- thus producing greater results quicker and naturally.
Charity Events
We have always instilled to our members the importance of supporting local charity groups.
We have performed at many events to raise funds and awareness for particular charities. We would gladly host charity evenings at the Art Centre as well as continuing to travel out to various venues.
Our skill in production and presentation will help all groups to add greater prestige to their function- thus raising more funds.
